I know that it has been a while since I have put anything on our blog. I would like to say that we have just been home kicking our feet up and relaxing and so there has been nothing to write about, but that has not been the case.
Kyle is going full blast with basketball. We are loving every minute that he is on the court. We started the season playing in Ogden and we lost in the last seconds of the game in both the Sophomore game and the Freshman game. Then we played Morgan at home. During the Sophomore game Kyle hit the floor really hard and when he got up he was really dazed. I could see that he was shook up and then Russ came over where I was sitting and told me to go check Kyle. So I went over to talk to him and he said that his head hurt really bad and he couldn't see out of his left eye. I said, "What do you mean you can't see?" His left eye was blurry and he didn't have peripheral vision in that eye. So, I called Dr. Shamo (thank goodness for Dr. Shamo) and he came over to the game. By that time Kyle was seeing "stars" or sparkly light on the side. So Dr. Shamo said to get him to the emergency room. That was a sign of a possible torn retina. So we hurried to the hospital. Then the CT machine was down at Delta so we flew over to Fillmore to get a scan and back to Delta hospital to get the results. (Kyle was not happy with all this - He was missing his game - "This is so stupid" , "Why are they so slow?", "Can't we just leave?") Anyway, when we got back to Delta Dr. Smith said that it was "just a concussion". We were so happy to hear that. I was getting prepared to head up north for another surgery and when he said a concussion I wanted to celebrate. So he took a 48 hours rest and is back playing again. He has played quite a bit of time in the Sophomore games and most of the time in the Freshman games. Last weekend he went to a JV tournament in Cedar City and played a lot of minutes there. He was so nervous to be playing on JV and then the 2nd day Coach Rob put his arms around Kyle and Colin and said, "I don't want to put any pressure on you two, but I am going to start you". Kyle was so excited and so nervous. I thought (of course I am his MOM) that he played excellent for a young freshman player. They played Davis and Hurricane. The Davis players looked so HUGE compared to our skinny Kyle. We went to Cedar tonight and played Canyon View and won both the Sophomore and Freshman games there. Kyle loves basketball and if he keeps improving I think that he will be a great player. Good Job Kyle!
About Ty, We are celebrating his first day without crutches!!! He did really well and he was so happy to get rid of those dumb things. He starts rehab in the morning with Howard Q. It will be good to get going with that. We need him ready for baseball. The 1st game is March 10th. Hopefully that gives him enough time to be back 100%.
